Helping Improve Patients Quality of LifeAlong with standard medical therapy for chronic lung disease, pulmonary rehabilitation can alleviate symptoms and optimize a patient's physical and psychological functioning. Its main purpose is to restore chronic lung disease patients to the highest level of independent function.
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Unit provides a team approach to the management of chronic lung diseases. The team includes physicians, nurses, exercise specialists, therapists, dietitians, psychologists, all of whom work together to ensure the effectiveness and success of the program. It addresses the individual needs of patients through a multidisciplinary program composed of diagnosis, therapy, strength and endurance training, psychosocial support and patient education.
St. Luke's has acquired the latest equipment for this program, including the VMAX229 Cardio-Pulmonary Exercise Machine, Precor 9.35 Treadmill, and Upper Body Cycle BIODEX. |
