Vascular and Interventional Radiology is an innovative branch of medicine in which physicians treat diseases non-operatively by using small catheters or catheter based devices to the target by fluoroscopic and other imaging modalities. These minimally invasive procedures are accomplished through percutaneous tracts without the need for traditional surgery or general anesthesia. These interventions are guided by radiologic imaging modalities such as fluoroscopy, ultrasound and CT scan.
The Heart Institute’s Vascular and Interventional Radiology Section offers a comprehensive program of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to treat a variety of cardiovascular disorders.
