Since its formation in 1986, the Stress Test Unit has reverberated with new life and dynamism. Not just for the diagnosis of ischemia, stress testing now is used for surveillance, prognostication, risk stratification, and treatment monitoring. The unit is fully modernized with treadmill machines and is run by well-trained staff.

In collaboration with the Stress Test Unit is the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit founded in 1989. This unit takes care of patients undergoing primary and secondary lifestyle interventions, which offer a new lease to the lives of cardiac patients as well as ensure better quality of living.

Over the years, the cardiac rehabilitation unit has evolved in terms of managing not only post-open heart patients but also post-Percutaneous Cardiac Intervention (PCI), high coronary risk, elderly and heart failure patients. The educational aspects of the unit has also been strengthened and enforced. In its program, they have integrated telemetry monitoring services for high-risk patients during the process of exercise training. The importance of cardiac rehabilitation has been integrated into the overall care of cardiac patients, and it has consequently gained wide acceptance among the attending physicians.

The Heart Institute offers a wide range of procedures that provide a valuable glimpse of how the heart and body are tolerating activity. The Institute’s team can evaluate the function of your cardiovascular system and help determine the presence and severity of heart disease.
To determine the body’s response to stress, the unit does exercise tests supervised by a cardiologist on a treadmill. Together with the patient, the team works to develop a safe and effective cardiac plan and personalized activity guidelines that will strengthen cardiac health and improve one’s quality of life.
