The Main Operating Room Complex caters to all types of surgical cases from the most routine to the most intricate, demanding and complex procedures. The entire complex, composed of 17 theaters, is climate-controlled, has anti-static flooring, fire proof glass dividers and wall paneling, and a Laminar Airflow System to enhance sterility and safety. During procedures, surgeons are given immediate access to all laboratory, diagnostic and radiologic images via flat screen monitors that are connected to the hospital's main computer and Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS). St. Luke's also provides pre-operative ambulatory or same-day surgery patients and their families with comfortable, warmly-lit private lounges and dressing areas as they wait. The Minimally Invasive Surgery Section of the Institute of Surgery currently offers Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, herniorrhaphy, lysis of adhesions, diagnostic laparoscopy, Lap staging of tumors and other laparascopic procedures using state-of-the-art instrumentation in laparascopic surgery technology. 1.
