Because St. Luke's understands how precious and critical these moments are, a special and private birthing room has been designed to address the distinct needs of expectant parents.

The brand-new Birthing Room, opened in March 2005, features a patient's room separated from the living room area with a sleek Japanese style divider.

It is equipped with a built-in cardiac monitor, fetal monitor, piped-in oxygen with suction, photo-lighted crib (infant warmer), mini-operating light, anesthesia machine, Diamond Care DISS nitrous oxide to enable smooth and efficient delivery.

To make the hours of labor more comfortable, the room is equipped with a flat plasma TV with cable and DVD entertainment system. In addition, the mother-to-be has access to her own private toilet and bath.

Anticipating the need of the patient and her partner to communicate with family, friends, and business associates, the living room area is equipped with a computer with internet access, fax machine, and local telephone service.

The living room also comes with a refrigerator, airpot, and microwave oven. A guest sofa bed, two hand dryers, hot and cold water, and a selective menu are also provided for utmost comfort and convenience.
